Back to 2002

In this post I would like to return to the distant 2002.

Here I would like to give your attention, my first project in which I tried to express entire interest in software products for the Computer Simulation and Analysis which I could see till a 2002.

I doubt that somewhere I can find the source codes of this product, and here I can just a share my emotions that I experienced in the implementation of my dreams and direct you to link for free download and use this product. 

Back in 2002 I wrote some words for the presentation of the product, and here I want to give you the words and thoughts of those years.

To say that this is another new product for the calculation of numerical analysis, worthy to compete with such monsters as ANSYS, NASTRAN, FLUENT, CFX, etc. makes no sense. This is a little not a powerful program created by the efforts of one man with old compiler BC ++3.1 to calculate the steady-state temperature fields for plane sections as a helper for solving problems in professional activities, and for reasons of simple interest to the author's of finite elements method.

Because of the limited technical capabilities of the author and the time a detailed study of programming techniques such projects, in defining the concept of the program was created by a number of the following restrictions: 

  • Type of task was chosen as stationary (the resulting temperature field does not change over time and is considered to be stationary);
  • Problem of heat conduction is considered in two-dimensional setting without taking into account the heat propagation in the direction of the third coordinate (exclude the possibility of an axisymmetric formulation, the size of the element in the direction of the third coordinate taken as constant and equal to unity);
  • Mesh for the Finite Element Method is represented as a triangle and has first order approximation function (the element temperature varies linearly);
  • When you import a drawing through DXF, perceived only XY coordinates, Z-coordinate is ignored. Also, when you import a drawing blocks are ignored and the types of lines.

Despite its modesty, this program still has the right to be included in the list of self-sustaining products. GreenKey import geometric model by DXF-format, built-correction features of this model, the presence of layers that makes the graphic information provided, along with the possibility of directly creating sites have implemented the algorithms developed a finite element mesh and its normalization, integrated non-linear solver on the set boundary conditions and material properties taken immediately calculate the temperature field in the finite element model. The program is arranged in such a way that excludes the possibility of making the model invalid data, which could lead to erroneous interpretation of the results. During a lengthy calculation the user has the ability to monitor the degree of completion, and if necessary interrupt the process, and continue later.

It should be noted the presence of HELP, which will facilitate familiarity with the program. In short, GreenKey created the light of experience of its author when working with known similar products, and contains at least sufficient to meet its objective.

 In conclusion, I am a huge happy to say that to my knowledge, GreenKey use the Aviation Institute students to perform course work, as well as available to the design bureau, which speaks of its relevance.








Unfortunately, at the time of development, I do not know how much the global will be English. On this, the documentation for assistance in training GreenKey was written in Russian. If someone from the users there is a wish that I helped them with an English translation, I will prepare and give all necessary information.
